Wildfire Science & Technology Commons
Technological Innovations for Wildfire Management and Mitigation
The Wildfire Science & Technology Commons (Wildfire Commons) is a new initiative, at the University of California, San Diego, to accelerate technological innovations for wildfire management and mitigation. It will serve as a central hub for data, models, computing resources, and expertise to enable wildland fire researchers, innovators, and practitioners to collaborate on next-generation solutions. The Wildfire Commons hosts multiple Working Groups designed to break down the barriers between wildfire-related data, models, and tools.
CWI is currently engaged in the Scale and Sustain Working Group, which will 1) identify ways in which the Wildfire Science & Technology Commons can scale partnerships to include new collaborations with existing communities and networks; 2) assess opportunities and innovations for additional growth in the FireForge platform expansion; and 3) explore innovations that can sustain the Wildfire Science & Technology Commons to ensure ongoing use and impact within the community and beyond.
