Part 2 of 4: Operations-Centered Innovation Pathways

Written by James Puerini and Cole Von Glahn

Innovative wildfire management technology isn’t useful if it stays stuck in the lab. To be truly effective, we require tools designed for the people who need them most.

Building on the foundation of effective governance established in the first post of our series, we now turn our focus to getting actionable intelligence into the hands of the end-user.

In Part 2 of our research initiative with the Environmental Policy Innovation Center (EPIC), we move from the broader data ecosystem to researchers and wildfire management personnel. "Operations-Centered Innovation Pathways" explores the need for a continuous feedback loop—ensuring the real-world needs directly inform R&D so that new technologies are built for, and successfully returned to, the field.

In this post, we examine how to ensure that cutting-edge data and technology aren't just theoretically useful, but are practically designed for and seamlessly deployed to those using innovation on-the-ground.
