Working Together Towards a Fire Resilient Future
CWI’s Signature Convenings unite fire experts, Tribal leaders, policymakers, researchers, and industry partners to accelerate solutions to today’s most urgent wildfire and climate challenges. Rooted in five years of trusted event design, facilitation, and cross-sector collaboration, CWI hosts an annual gathering of 70+ leaders from across California and the West, each event intentionally building on prior convenings to advance shared priorities and actionable outcomes. Beyond this flagship event, CWI now offers tailored convening services, supporting partners with end-to-end design, planning, and facilitation for policy roundtables, solution sessions, workshops, and plenaries. These convenings strengthen the wildfire field by fostering alignment, surfacing opportunities, and helping the community move from discussion to coordinated, implementable action.
COMMON GROUND: PRESCRIBED FIRE, VINEYARDS & COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
APRIL 14, 2026 | 9:00 AM-3:00 PM PT
NAPA, CA
The Common Ground: Prescribed Fire, Vineyards and Community Resilience event, hosted by the Climate & Wildfire Institute and CAL FIRE brought together vintners, grape growers, prescribed fire practitioners, researchers, local organizations, and public agencies to advance open dialogue around the role of prescribed fire in winegrowing regions. Building on the momentum of our previous webinar, Prescribed Fire in Winegrower Country: How Much Smoke Is Too Much?, the convening focused on how prescribed fire is planned and implemented to reduce catastrophic wildfire risk while minimizing impacts to vineyards and surrounding communities. Participants explored the evolving science of smoke exposure and grape vulnerability, shared lessons from local prescribed burn efforts, and discussed operational challenges and opportunities related to communication, coordination, monitoring, and implementation.
